Universal Cleanroom Protocols for Hygiene
The need is Imminent
Primarily, cleanrooms products like air shower, sanitization chamber etc were made for establishments which needed zero-contamination entry and exit points to conduct research work or in medical facilities where the need for 100% sterile environment is a must. Our modern world has faced an unprecedented pandemic in the name of COVID-19(coronavirus) at a global level, this used to happen before there were limited medical and scientific advancements in the medical world.
We, at iLabot Technologies believe that this is the right time to implement policies that ensures that cleanrooms are installed in public places to minimize the possibility of being in contact with micro-organisms which are harmful to our health.
Let’s take a look into two types of cleanroom equipment which can be used everywhere for maintaining a sanitized area.
Air Shower:
As seen in sci-fi movies, a scientist packed in PPE unit goes into an empty room for removal of dirt and unwanted organic matter on the body of the person. The operation principle is simple, air is blown from multiple directions using specially designed nozzles to form a tangential motion to allow full body decontamination. The air blown into the air shower chamber is circulated and cleaned through a HEPA filter which even filters out small/micro particles. A smaller version of air shower known as air curtains is generally seen on the entry points of malls, multiplexes, govt. offices, museums, galleries and other public places. They are unidirectional blowers which are fitted on top of the entry gate.

Sanitization Chamber and Tunnels:
COVID-19 is not only a pandemic, it also presented itself as an opportunity for humans to make way to moments of genius and create something that fits the need of the hour. Though the vaccine is not available imminently, another cleanroom equipment was created to restrict the spread of virus. A small chamber/tunnel fitted with strategically placed spray nozzles spray chemical-based disinfectant. Though it doesn’t contain the virus 100%, it acts as a barrier for virus transfer on body. A disinfectant spray is sprayed all over the body of an individual to kills micro-organisms on the body.

There are a lot of things that could have been different in case better hygiene and sanitization standards were adopted at public places. The practical applications of air shower and sanitization chamber exceeds way beyond its current use being limited to medical and research facilities.
The main advantage of both items shared above is their ability to clean the outermost layer of cloth or exposed skin of the entrant and with the vaccine no where is sight. It would be a fair assumption to believe that these are our best chance of reducing the risk of community transfer of covid-19/coronavirus along with maintaining social distancing.
There are other cleanroom equipment which may have practical applications just like the 2 mentioned above, such are Laminar Air Flow, Fume Hood, Biosafety Cabinet and Pass Box.
