Mortuary Chamber for storing Dead Bodies
A mortuary chamber is used for storing a dead body to prevent it from decomposing rapidly.
A chamber acts like a cold storage room that holds multiple temperature-controlled cabinets for storing dead bodies. The standard temperature of a mortuary chamber is 2 to 5-degree centigrade, this can be controlled using a PID controller. There are many instances where custom temperature requests of sub-zero temperature are used for storage purposes. This is mainly in cases where chances of storage is needed for a longer duration.
Features and Benefits of mortuary chambers:
1. Slows down body decomposition.
2. Reduces infection/virus spread risk
3. Made of stainless steel
4. PID controller for temperature maintenance
5. Safety alarms
6. Individual cabinets for each body.
One of the benefits of mortuary chambers is that they can be installed in the tightest of the spaces and can be customized as per the requirement of the using party. Let’s understand this way, there is a limited space in a hospital and there are very few chances that they will need to use a chamber. A 4 body cabinet is enough for such a unit. Whereas on the other hand, if we talk about a research centre or a govt. hospital that has a lot of incoming unknown cases, this is where a customized chamber whose storage capacity can be increased without having to dismantle the unit is ideal.
Need for Mortuary Chambers and Cabinets
Normally, in case of death of an individual a Hospital instantly prepares the body to be discharged for its attendants to transport for last rites. Then there are instances where there is no one to claim the dead body. For example, in case of accidental death, relatives or closed ones don’t even know or they are still looking for their loved ones. In these unfortunate circumstances, these mortuary cabinets store the body of an individual and preserve it so that it can be identified easily, and the body has not decomposed which may prove out to be a threat to the workers around. Decomposed bodies often emit a rotten odour which is hard to stand by, also there is a chance of spread of infection or viruses in the surroundings.
